Yatala Stupa & Archeological Museum
This area was a sub-kingdom called ‘Ruhuna’ from 3rd century BC. Yatala Wehera was the
first stupa in ‘Ruhuna’ which was constructed by king ‘Mahanaga’ who was the first king in
this sub-kingdom. There is an architectural museum beside the Yatala Wehera. There are
many artifacts which were found by archeological excavations. You will see the splendor of
our ancient architecture and art.
Sandagiriya Stupa
This stupa was also constructed in 3 rd centaury BC by king Mahanaga. You are able to see
the classical view of the stupa even today.
Tissamaharama Buddhist Temple
This one is famous Buddhist temple among the Buddhist pilgrims which was constructed in
2 nd centaury BC.
Yala Safari
After the lunch you will have a nice evening safari in Yala National Park. This park is the
best place to see Sri Lankan Leopards ( Panthera pardus kotiya ). There is a high probability

Yala National Park (also known as Ruhunu National Park) is the most visited and second largest national park in Sri Lanka. It consists of five blocks, two of which are now open to the public; and also adjoining parks. It is in the southeast region of the country, and lies in Southern Province and Uva Province. The park covers 979 km2 (378 sq mi) and is about 300 km (190 mi) from Colombo. Yala was designated as a wildlife sanctuary in 1900, and, along with Wilpattu it was one of the first two national parks in Sri Lanka, having been designated in 1938. The park is best known for its variety of wild animals.
